A duet in another language

Your voice, it sooths
Like running cold water on a fresh burn
The words sound familiar, and they ring more than a few bells in my mind, to the rhythm of each line

I do not quite understand
what you’re saying

In familiarity, I find just as much foreigness

Despite our language stemming from the same roots – the pronounciation, intonation, and vocabulary branch out to adopt meanings of their own.

This divergence creates the individuality of each voice in a duet, yet its unison is complementary: of emotions, leaving us wistful and searching for the same thing in parallel worlds.
