[TRAVELOGUE: WESTERN AUSTALIA 2014] PART FOUR.

DAY 10 – DAY TRIP TO SWAN VALLEY

FIRST STOP: YAHAVA KOFFEEWORKS

Being a coffee addict and coffeejunkie, Yahava was a splendid stopover! Coffee tasting left me bloated with coffee knowledge and too bloated to grab a good cuppa flat white… unfortunately. But I got to try Yahava Singapore’s coffee today, almost 3 weeks after returning from my trip! Good koffee, is guhhddd.

SECOND STOP: MARGARET RIVER CHOCOLATE FACTORY, SWAN VALLEY OUTLET

THIRD STOP: LANCASTER ESTATE

Good (but slightly pricey) wine; they sell The Old Cheddar Cheeses Company’s cheese too, but it’s double that of the price you would be paying at the factory itself….

FOURTH STOP: THE MALLARD DUCK, SWAN VALLEY

Lunch, proper food, reasonably priced and portioned, and supposedly… good. Food was about 7/10, but the steak was almost done despite requesting it to be medium-rare; hence it was slightly disappointing. As for what I ordered, it turned out yummy. (: The Mallard Duck offers quite a peaceful view and stopover for fine dining food!

And so at about 4pm, we headed back to Perth…

DAY 11: Running around the city

20140605_093550

Started the day heading to Liz’s Bookshop because I try to make it a point to purchase a secondhand book each time I visit a foreign country… Ended up staying in the shop for almost 2 hours being so engrossed and entirely absorbed in the fantastical world of books.

Walked past His Majesty’s Theatre and started conversing with the 2 volunteers, Ric and this lady, who were volunteering to provide information to people like myself 😛 “Ask us something; if we know the answer, we’ll tell you. If not, we’ll make something up.” And then I learnt that Ric used to perform in the plays, and is still a cast in some! 🙂 Exchanged pleasantries and then proceeded with running some last minute errands… such as grabbing the cheapest GB nougats available at the Asian grocery, and then some chocolate from Coles, and some last minute shopping in Target, and then sitting down at a café at 5ish to rush to finish my letters of appreciation for the kind group of people whom my sister managed to gather to have dinner with me on my last evening in Perth. They are from her small group, and now they’re my friends too! 🙂

Featuring Bryan, Steph and Jiaren, and Wesley who allowed me to join them on their road trip down south on Day 8, Liong and Blue Paul who took great care of me during SYG, Daniel and Ing who were most friendly and welcoming during Wednesday’s small group. (‘:

Day 12: Homebound, but before that…

Boarded the ferry that brought me to South Perth, which is the suburbs of Perth City and Perth’s skyline looked amazing as the blue sky and bright sun created a perfect contrast to it. Headed to Muse on Mends for some really good coffee and sat there for a good 2 hours writing more letters of gratitude and appreciation to the people of lovely team Subi.

And after heading to Carousel to grab some plums to bring back to Singapore, grabbed a quick bite from Red Rooster (which is so darn delicious) and then rushed home to shower and pack a few more things into the luggage and readied myself to head to the airport. Featuring my sister who sent me off despite feeling unwell and who took time off her placement to do so, and Le Qing who has taken great care of me throughout my stay, being so warm and bubbly and lovely!

And… the last sunset in Perth.

Upon unpacking back home, lo and behold, my loot!!! – a whopping 28 pieces of clothing (excluding the ones for Momma) and extreme contentment and gratitude for the trip.

And that, concludes my 12 days in Perth. :’)

As to deeper thoughts and reflections on the trip, that will be posted separately.
